Furphy refers to many real locations and events in his stories of the Riverina. Over the course of the Joseph Furphy Project, these locations will be plotted on the map below in order to better understand the role of place in Furphy’s fiction. This serves as a conceptual model for mapping Furphy’s fiction within an electronic edition.
I’ve also been working on a similar map for David Malouf’s Johnno. The map is currently featured in the exhibition David Malouf and Friends at the Museum of Brisbane. I’ll be talking about the project on 3 August: https://register.eventarc.com/22823/mapping-malouf/.
